The fifth annual Tillsonburg Turtlefest is set to take place this weekend with the opening ceremonies and block party happening downtown on Friday night.
They will have plenty to do for the whole family all weekend with live music, a magic show, contests and games, live animal display, ice cream booth and so much more. Event Coordinator Suzanne Fleet tells Heart FM why they came up with the name Turtle Fest. "The founder of our town George Tillson, before he passed away he said he was going to come back as a turtle to see how his town is doing, so a few years after he passed some people were down at Otter Creek and found this big huge turtle and though oh this must be George, so that's how it got started and when were thinking of a name for a new Festival we thought we would honour Tillson buy calling it Turtlefest."
Fleet says this year promises to be one of the best yet and the three day festival starts with the Friday night block party, visitors can see live music, a magic show and get to know local businesses and groups as all come out with fun activities to take part in the festival. On Saturday, families can enjoy turtle fun at an affordable rate all over town including a one-price activities extravaganza at the Memorial Park fairgrounds, free fun at Annandale NHS and much more at Lake Lisgar and the Tillsonburg Station Arts Centre. Finally, on Sunday, dog lovers and athletes alike can relax and watch the Ultimate Air Dogs Show. Turtlefest activities will be taking place at the Memorial Park Fairgrounds, Crompton's Home Hardware, Lake Lisgar, Tillsonburg Station Arts Centre and the Memorial arena.
