The Thames Valley District School Board will observe a moment of silence at 2:15 p.m. in honour of the residential school victims recently discovered in Kamloops, BC.
OXFORD/LONDON/MIDDLESEX - The Thames Valley District School Board is paying respects to the residential school victims recently discovered in Kamloops, British Columbia.
The remains of 215 children were discovered last week. The Kamloops Residential School operated from 1890 to 1969 until the federal government took over and ran it as a day school until 1978.
Thames Valley is encouraging all staff and students to wear orange this week and to observe a moment of silence at 2:15 p.m. this afternoon.
The school board will also lower all flags to half mast for 215 hours. This works out to nine days starting today and lasting until June 8th. It has also ordered all Thames Valley schools to change the message on their signs to “215+ Lives Lost, Every Child Matters."
