Oxford OPP are continuing to investigate what caused a transport truck to veer off the 401 and plunge into a river. Shortly before 11:30 am Tuesday morning, emergency crews were called to the 401 eastbound lanes, just west of the Trussler Road overpass where a truck was submersed into the water of the Nith River. A recovery operation assumed at the scene of the crash and a few hours later, two bodies were pulled from the frigid waters. Police say the driver's body was transported to Hamilton General Hospital for a post mortem examination today. No word on where the passenger's body was taken. The investigation is continuing and police say that the 401 eastbound lanes will have partial closures today between Oxford Road #29 and the Trussler Road overpass beginning at 9:00 am. The eastbound lanes of the 401 were closed for close to 11 hours Tuesday as emergency crews on scene. The truck, which was hauling a load of laptops, was travelling from Chicago to Mississauga. Police are appealing for witnesses to contact them at 1-888-310-1122 as their investigation is ongoing. Weather conditions at the time of the crash were good.
