Woodstock Police are investigating two separate incidents of distraction theft. The first happened Friday afternoon shortly after 3:30 pm in the Wal-Mart parking lot. A woman says a man approached her and asked for assistance. She left her car to look at a map he spread out on the hood of another car. A witness saw a second man go into her car and place an item in his pocket. The witness approached the victim who was still speaking to the first man, at which time that suspect walked away. It was discovered the victim had credit cards and bank cards stolen. The suspect's abandoned vehicle was located by police but they are continuing to search for the two men. Police are looking for a white male, approximately 55 years-old with a thin build and white hair, wearing a black t-shirt and has an accent. The second man is believed to be in his 30's about 5'8 with a white ball cap, black top, and is described as foreign in appearance. Police say a second incident happened today in the Zehr's parking lot. A man asked a woman if she knew where Barrie was and spread a map out on the hood of a car. During this time, the woman had bank and credit cards stolen. The man involved fits the description of the first incident. Police are reminding residents to be cautious if facing these circumstances and to always be aware of your surroundings and keep your valuables close by. Police are asking the public to report all suspicious persons immediately.
