WOODSTOCK - There is a volunteer opportunity available for a great cause!
The 27th annual Thames River cleanup is happening on Saturday at 8 a.m., with Woodstock having three different cleanup locations at the 11th Line trail entrance, Bexley Street entrance to trails and the Lansdowne parking lot.
Upper Thames River Conservation Authority board member Mark Schadenberg says the purpose of the event is to keep our waters clean, and how lucky we are to have a clean water supply.
"I think the one thing to always keep in mind is how important water is and how much of a precious resource it is."
Over 40 cleanups are happening all around Southwestern Ontario, with a prize going out to one of the volunteers.
Schadenberg says that anyone who is participating will have their name entered into a draw for a big prize!
"Nova Craft is supplying a kayak to one of the participants in one of the 40-plus locations."
