Members of the public have until 12:00 p.m. tomorrow to submit their questions.
WOODSTOCK - Unifor Local 636 is about to host its all candidates debate for the Ontario snap election.
Oxford County candidates will be facing off at 126 Beale Street in Woodstock at 6:00pm on Tuesday February 18th. Seating will be available for spectators on a first come first serve basis.
President Brent Thompson will be the moderator for the evening, so he will be asking all of the questions to the candidates. He says members of the public are welcome to forward whatever questions that have to the Unifor in advance.
"If anybody has any questions from the public, we are accepting them if they are e-mailed to unifor636mel@gmail.com. We are asking that we have them by February 13th at 12:00 p.m. which is only tomorrow."
It's all depending what the public would like to know, but Thompson has a feeling a lot of different topics will be discussed.
"Should provincial politicians get involved with tariffs or should they not and only about their own provinces? They're all kinds of things we can address, including the homelessness in all of the counties and provinces. So what do we do, do we worry about labour, do we worry about the homeless, do we worry about tariffs, or we worry about everything as a politician?"
He adds three candidates had confirmed their plans to attend as of this morning.
"So far we've had the New Blue Party (Peter Beimers), the NDP (Khadijah Haliru) and the Liberal Party (Bernia Martin) confirm that they will be here. I am hoping to hear from the Progressive Conservative Party today, they reached out to us yesterday so I am assuming that they will be in attendance."
The debate will be aired on Rogers TV on Saturday February 22nd at 6:00 p.m., Monday February 24th at 7:00 p.m., and Wednesday February 26th at 1:00 p.m.
Oxford County residents will head to the polls on Thursday February 27th.
