If the United States moves forward with eliminating time change, it could open the door for Ontario to follow suit, starting in 2023.
The US Senate has just passed a bill that would make Daylight Savings Time permanent in the U.S starting next year.
If this gets passed, that would be no more time changes in the United States. It would also pave the way for Ontario to follow suit. In 2020, the Province opened the door to scrapping the time change. The bill that passed in 2020 stated that Ontario would only make this change, if New York State and Quebec made the same move.
The U.S announcement still needs approval from the U.S House of Representatives and backing from the President for it to go forward.
