United Way Oxford partnered with Thames Valley District School Board to announce the campaign total, including a local elementary school.
OXFORD - United Way Oxford and Elgin Middlesex Partnered with the Thames Valley District School Board, revealing the latest amount raised for their campaign, including a local elementary school.
Every year, United Way Oxford and Elgin Middlesex work with the TVDSB across both regions for the United Way Campaign. This year, Winchester Street Public School, raised $1,125 and United Way raised $229,430 in funds.
Resource Development Manager with United Way, Amanda Kreiger explains what the funds made from the school will go towards.
"At our elementary schools, they do lots of fun things like dress-up days, lunches, bake sales, and then when we go into the elementary level. We have things like United in Sport and student stair climb that the older students take part in and they help with the fundraising efforts as well."
Kreiger also adds what that amount raised by United Way will go towards.
"Here in Oxford county, that money will go towards any United Way funded programs same with Elgin Middlesex. The portions raised at the schools in the other Middlesex area will go towards their funded partners."
In Oxford there are dozens of organizations across the county that are included, such as kids programming, helping people move from poverty to possibility with food and housing supports, and with mental health and addiction supports as well.
United Way and Thames Valley want to thank everyone, from volunteers to donors, and anyone in the community who comes together to make it possible.
