United Way Oxford set out to raise 1.2 million dollars back in September... and they've gone over and above those expectations.
OXFORD COUNTY - United Way Oxford has deemed their latest campaign a success.
They've managed to raise $1,220,000; surpassing the goal of $1.2 million that was set back in September.
Executive Director Kelly Gilson is over the moon.
"There were lots of challenges last year and lots to overcome as the campaign went on. The fact that we were able to work with our community and surpass our goal is just really worth celebrating!"
United Way Oxford made the announcement at their Community Celebration at the Woodstock Quality Hotel and Suites yesterday evening.
All of the money raised will benefit local programs that fit into United Way's three main pillars; Poverty to Possibility, Building Strong Communities and All That Kids Can Be.
Gilson gives us an example.
"We are investing in programs like walk in counselling, so that people who are looking for a little support can get it in a timely, easy, local way and that we know is super important."
Gilson says they're also happy to donate funds to youth mentorship programs and housing supports in 2018.
Although the fundraising campaign is over, United Way Oxford will still accept donations to those who want to benefit the next campaign. You can donate online here or visit their Woodstock office at 447 Hunter Street.
