The Day of Caring sends corporate volunteers to non-profits to help with projects.
OXFORD COUNTY - The Day of Caring is exactly one week away.
Lindsay Wilson, the Community Impact and Engagement Manager for United Way Oxford, says it's an annual initiative where United Way sends teams of volunteers from local businesses out into the community, to help local charities with projects they need to get done.
"It could be gardening a lot of the time or it could be painting, but we really match those corporate volunteer teams with non-profits to support each other and get that work done."
United Way Oxford has three projects scheduled for next Thursday; sending volunteers from local businesses to Indwell to do some gardening, to Ingersoll Services for Seniors to repair some garden planters, and to the Tillsonburg Salvation Army to sort through some donations.
Wilson is also encouraging members of the public think about ways they can step up and help.
"We also want the community at large to think about how they could have their own Day of Caring with their family or with their kids because its important for us to think about how we can be looking out for each other."
The Day of Caring is always on the first Thursday in June and this is United Way Oxford's 19th year participating. You can find more information and donate to the cause online here.
Lindsay Wilson called the Heart FM studio with Peter Tenvoorde from MW&Co on Wednesday May 28th. You can listen to their full interview with Dan and Marcie below:
