You have to register beforehand if you want to attend the community celebration tomorrow night.
WOODSTOCK -United Way Oxford has wrapped up another fundraising campaign and it's ready to announce the grand total.
The United Way Community Celebration will be held at FORE! Oxford in Woodstock tomorrow night from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Resource Development Manager Amanda Kreiger says all of the money that was raised during the campaign will be invested back into our community.
"A donation is not just a donation, it's an investment in that next generation. If we want to help prevent some of these needs that we're seeing like some of the mental health struggles people are facing, homelessness, and poverty, how do we do it? We get ahead of it!"
She says they also have some other exciting events in store for the evening.
"We will give out our spirit awards that night because we have 12 different awards to give out to community members who went above and beyond. We'll also have Strong Start there to tell us why it's important, why this number will make a difference, and how together we're helping support kids through that program specifically."
Strong Start is a tutoring program for kids in Kindergarten to Grade 3, helping those who are struggling with their reading and writing skills.
Tomorrow's event is free to attend, but you have to register through Eventbrite beforehand.
Amanda Kreiger stopped by the Heart FM studio to chat with Dan and Marcie on Thursday March 14th. You can listen to the full interview below:
