Ingersoll`s Wastewater Treatment Plant built around 1947 is finally getting some upgrades
INGERSOLL - Oxford County has approved a $17 million upgrade to the Ingersoll Wastewater Treatment Plant.
Ingersoll Mayor Ted Comiskey tells Heart FM why they need to do these upgrades.
"The work needs to be done because the old one is falling apart, I believe it was built in 1947 and it has out lived its life span and certainly to look forward to the future and the development of the town of Ingersoll. We want to make sure we have a supply of facilities that will handle the wastewater that is going to be required over the next 20/30 years and our system at this point in time will not handle that. It has reached its life span and in fact it has been extended and we are lucky it has held up."
Comiskey says a lot of work has to be done at the plant and it will require a lot of upgrades and replacements.
"A little bit of both, we are working on the old one to a certain extent, it will be mostly a new plant to handle the demand that is going to occur over the next 30 years."
He notes plans are already in place and construction should start soon.
