There is currently no serious flooding expected at this time.
OXFORD - The Upper Thames River Conservation Authority (UTRCA) want to remind everyone to use extreme caution near all watercourses.
With above zero temperatures for most of the province as well as some drizzle, showers, and periods of rain with local precipitation amounts from 25 to 40 mm, water levels are expected to be elevated over the weekend and into next week, however, serious flooding is not expected.
The water could be become fast-moving, stream banks can be slippery, and any ice cover will be weak and unstable. Flood control reservoirs are especially hazardous due to fluctuating water levels.
The UTRCA says their reservoirs at Fanshawe, Wildwood, and Pittock are at seasonal levels and will be operated to reduce downstream flooding if required, and their officials will report any changing conditions.
With schools closed over the holiday period, caregivers are reminded to keep children and pets away from the watercourses entirely.
