If the bylaw is passed by Woodstock City Council this week, the owners of vacant buildings would have to register their empty buildings with the city.
WOODSTOCK - Woodstock City Council will be looking over a vacant building registry bylaw.
It would require the owners of empty buildings to register them with the city, so bylaw enforcement officers can help make sure they're safe and property standards are met.
The owners would have to pay a $250 registration fee plus a $500 renewal fee each year.
Properties subject to building or demolition permits would be exempt, as well as city buildings and non-residential farm buildings.
Council will discuss the matter during this Thursday's meeting. It will begin at 7:00 p.m. and you can livestream it on the City of Woodstock YouTube Channel. You can also find the agenda online here.
