Vets Record First Shutout Since '09

Navy Vets wear pink in support of breast cancer awareness.

The Woodstock Navy Vets toppled visiting Delhi Friday evening 4-0.

WOODSTOCK - The Navy Vets broke a 5 year shutout drought Friday evening, throttling the visiting Delhi Travellers 4-0. Navy Vet offense supplemented by a strong defense limited Delhi's offense to 14 shots on Vet's goalie Michael Roefs who went onto record the Vets first shutout since 2009. The win was the Vets second straight victory and improved them to 3 and 5 on the season so far.

The first period saw a flurry of Vets goals from Austin Richardson, Dylan Wettlaufer and Jake Schneider during powerplays. It took just 11 minutes for the trio to put the Vets up 3-0 going into the second. Mackenzie Langford put the nail in the coffin, making it 4-0 for the Vets in the second.

As part of Breast Cancer awareness, the Vets wore pink jerseys and injured forward Dan Haig had his long hair cut during the first intermission for donation to the cancer society.

465 were on hand to witness the 5 year drought broken. The Vets travel to Tavistock on this evening.
