The Woodstock Fire Department has some tips for those who are planning on lighting fireworks over the Victoria Day long weekend.
WOODSTOCK - With the Victoria Day long weekend upon us, the Woodstock Fire Department wants to remind residents of some firework safety tips.
Public Information Coordinator Lisa Woods highlighted some important safety tips to follow, which include staying back from lit fireworks, making sure you have a bucket of water handy in case of emergencies, and never lighting fireworks in windy conditions.
She says those who decide to light some fireworks this weekend should also make sure they are in an open clear space so that no one gets injured and no property is damaged.
Fireworks are only permitted on Monday May 22nd, between the hours of dusk and 11:00 p.m. according to the city's bylaw.
The WFD would also like to wish everyone a safe and happy Victoria Day long weekend.
