Woodstock's vintage baseball team will be playing at Fanshawe Pioneer Village Saturday
LONDON - It's a great opportunity to catch some vintage baseball with a local connection.
The London Tecumseh Vintage Baseball club is hosting a special event at Fanshawe Pioneer Village (London) on Saturday.
As part of the day, the Woodstock Actives -- the Friendly City's vintage team and the Northville Eclipse from Michigan will both take on London .
Curator at Fanshawe Pioneer Village Shanna Dunlop says the cost is $7 which gives you admission into the Village for the day. "All the action takes place from noon until 4:30 pm. So game one will occur at noon to 2:00 pm, there'll be a short break until 2:30 pm and then the second game will be from 2:30 pm until 4:30 pm."
Dunlop points out that the game will be played as they were in the 19th century. "Baseball rules from this period of time actually did not use gloves so we play barehanded and so it's a little bit more exciting that way. It's also, historically it was considered a gentlemen's game so the rules, they're very well laid out, they expect the players to be very sportsman-like and it's a great team sport to watch."
