Volunteers will be cleaning up the parks and streets in Woodstock on Saturday April 22nd.
WOODSTOCK - People looking for ways to help the environment this Earth Day can volunteer to pick up trash in Woodstock.
The cleaning begins at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday April 22nd and goes until 12:00 p.m. Supervisor of Parks and Forestry Chris Kerns says volunteers will meet up at the park's shop in Southside Park to pick up their equipment.
"We'll be traveling by foot or by city bus to areas around the town that are in dire need of a cleanup. After the event at lunchtime, we'll be having a free barbecue for those attending."
Kerns says in previous years they typically fill an entire garbage truck by the end of the event.
"This is something that I feel really strongly towards. We've done this in past years and it's been very successful to help clean up the city and green it up a bit. We're always looking for ways to beautify the city."
Participants are encouraged to register ahead of time by calling 519-539-1291 (ext: 4101) however, volunteers are welcome even without registration.
