Starting April 1, volunteers in Ontario will no longer need to pay for a police check.
The Ontario Government is looking to make it easier for Ontarians to volunteer.
Today the Ford Government announced they will be eliminating the fee for Criminal Record Checks and Criminal Record and Judicial Matters Checks for volunteers
Solicitor General Sylvia Jones says this will make it easier to people to volunteer at animal shelters, food banks and so many other community organizations.
"Volunteers enrich our communities and making it free to get police record checks is a tangible way our government is making it easier for Ontarians to give back. Taking fees out of the equation will benefit charities and organizations that rely on the helping hands of volunteers, as well as senior volunteers with fixed incomes."
