WOODSTOCK - The former President of Canada's Outdoor Farm Show will be inducted into the Ontario Agriculture Hall of Fame.
Doug Wagner has been part of the agriculture industry for 45 years and he helped launch the very first Farm Show back in 1994. He has been very involved ever since and he officially retired as the President last year. Wagner is going to be an advisor for the Farm Show and Discovery Farm moving forward.
On top of all of this, Wagner was also part of the team that created western Canada's first outdoor farm expo known as Ag in Motion.
He has done lots of work with 4-H Ontario, the Junior Farmers' Association of Ontario, the International Plowing Match, the Ontario Soil and Crop Improvement Association, and the Ontario Seed Growers Association over the years. Wagner has also been a part of several committees including the Canadian Agri-food Marketers Alliance, The Royal Agricultural Winter Fair, and the University of Guelph.
Wagner will be inducted into the Ontario Agriculture Hall of Fame on Sunday June 11th, 2023. He was very honoured when he first found out.
“For all the early mornings and late nights I’ve put in, I have never really found it work. I am very humbled by this. It’s been wonderful hearing from people on this and you start to realize how many people you touch with your actions. Over the years, I’ve heard from industry people I didn't realize were following in the background, 4-H parents who thanked me on behalf of their kids, and exhibitors on the impact our events had on their businesses. That impact is special. It’s always bigger than you think it is.”
