The Woodstock Lupus Walk had it's highest turnout yet.
WOODSTOCK - The heat didn't deter people from coming out to the annual Lupus walk.
Sixty-Five people attended the event on the weekend, twenty more than last year. Jan Ropp, local coordinator for the Woodstock Lupus Walk says she feels the walk has helped generate awareness.
"When I started at Montana's I would walk around and just thank people for coming and letting them know why I was there. A lot of people had never heard of Lupus. This time a lot of people had heard of Lupus, they weren't really sure what it was - but they knew it was out there."
Ropp says the waiters at Montana's were wearing shirts supporting the Lupus Walk and collecting money for the foundation. Ropp hopes they will raise close to $5,000, they have currently fundraised $4,200.
"When you talk to people and tell them about it. They want to come out and help too. Woodstock is a really caring community. I find people are really willing to help here."
Lupus is an inflammatory disease that attacks different parts of your body.
