"While a flag can be replaced, the message behind an act like this cannot be ignored." - Warden Marcus Ryan
OXFORD - The Warden of Oxford County has released a statement about the Pride flag that was recently vandalized in Norwich.
Warden Marcus Ryan says this was an attempt to intimidate and exclude people for simply being themselves, and that message has no place in Oxford County.
He doesn't believe this incident reflects who are are as a community but it reminds us why conversation matters, particularly for members of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community who continue to experience acts of exclusion and discrimination.
He adds the Safe and Well Oxford plan highlights people and belonging as one of it's six priority areas.
