The donation drive provides winter clothing for families who are less fortunate and their children. They collect winter clothing for all ages, including adults, ranging from new and gently used coats, scarves and boots.

WOODSTOCK - Three years ago Tim Howard with Heartland Farm Mutual and Good Beginnings started Warm Up Woodstock.

Warm Up Woodstock is a winter wear donation drive for less fortunate families to get coats and other winter clothing for their children. Howard says it is important for everybody to have winter gear in these cold months.

"About three years ago my wife and I were in Sport Chek to get our kids all outfitted up with new winter gear, and the price of stuff is just crazy expensive, so we got them all outfitted but I'm also on the board with Good Beginnings and I felt like there's a lot of families that could use a little help getting their kids outfitted during the winter months. So I got to talk with Good Beginnings and the Goodwill Community Store & Donation Centre and we all came together and created a campaign called Warm Up Woodstock."

The Drive is a great opportunity to give to the community and to save your old winter gear for a great purpose.

Howard explains through collaboration with other community businesses it really is a great cause

"It's for kids of all ages, from new born to grade 7, 8, even beyond that and on November 9th we hold an open house over at the Good Beginnings at the Community Complex for people to come and pick up the items, we have some coffee and doughnuts and stuff like that and people that would like to come around and pick up something they can stop in and hopefully we have the right size and go from there, last year we had a fair bit of items and with all of the excess stuff I brought that down to Operation Sharing and they're able to find homes for that as well."

The drive accepts adult wear as well and for kids of all ages, and collect all types of winter wear including new and gently used coats, scarves, boots, and anything you would need to stay warm for the upcoming winter.

"You can drop your items off at any of the Good Beginnings locations in Woodstock. You can drop it off at C&D Lanes, the bowling alley in Woodstock, or you can drop it off at my insurance office on the West End of Thamesford at Heartland Farm Mutual until November 7th, the Open House is held from 9 AM to noon at the Community Complex."
