There are some things to keep in mind in the winter months when it comes to waste pick up in Oxford County.
OXFORD COUNTY - An increase of materials during the holiday season can create a lot more trash and recyclables to put out to the curb for collection. Pamela Antonio the Waste Management Coordinator with Oxford County says there are some things we can do to lessen the trash load while increasing our recycling.
"By removing all tape, and film plastics and twist ties from your cardboard packaging, break your cardboard boxes down so that they can be recycled and non-foiled wrapping paper can go into the recycling bin."
There are a few other things that are often over looked when it comes to waste pick up in the winter months, Antonio offers a few tips to keep in mind.
"Just to make sure that there is an area cleared out at the end of the drive way to place material out, and ideally not to place white garbage bags in the snow because they will often get missed."
Antonio adds that there are some scheduling changes to the curb side pick up over the holidays and residents are encouraged to follow on twitter @OxfordCounty or use the Waste Line App. for any collection delays or cancellations of service. The City services calendar and Oxford County Waste Management calendar are also good resources to use.
