Three men have been arrested and charges are pending after a weapons investigation in the area of William Street and Ingersoll Ave in Woodstock.
WOODSTOCK - There was a heavy police presence in the area of William Street and Ingersoll Ave in Woodstock, as police responded to a weapons-related incident.
Woodstock Police got the call at around 9:10 p.m. Saturday night. A statement was issued on the WPS social media pages shortly after 11:00 p.m. asking people to stay away from the area.
A second statement was issued shortly before 2:00 p.m. the next day, saying three men had been arrested and charges were pending. It also said residents on William Street had to leave their homes during the investigation, but they're back home now and there's no risk to public safety.
Inspector Marcia Shelton thanked everyone for their cooperation.
"It is not uncommon for these investigations to take time to investigate when factoring in all the involved risks to the public and to the officers on scene. We would like to thank the residents in the area, our local Salvation Army and to the Waterloo Regional Police and Stratford Police Services for their assistance."
The investigation is still ongoing at this time, so anyone with information should call Woodstock Police at 519-537-2323. You can also submit an anonymous tip through Crime Stoppers by calling 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
