The West Region OPP issued 353 impaired driving charges during the Festive RIDE campaign, and 26 of them were in Oxford County.
ONTARIO/OXFORD - The West Region OPP has released the final results of the Festive RIDE campaign.
Over 2,400 RIDE programs were held across Southwestern Ontario between November 16th and January 1st. A total of 353 impaired driving charges were laid across the 13 OPP detachments, and 55 warning range suspensions were issued.
Here in Oxford County, our local OPP officers conducted 246 RIDE programs with 26 impaired driving charges laid and three warning range suspensions issued.
Inspector Mike McConnell, the OPP West Region Traffic and Marine Manager, says the Festive RIDE campaign will return later this year.
"West Region OPP will continue efforts to get impaired drivers off the road beyond the holiday season and throughout the year. Drivers can expect to see RIDE checkpoints in their area at any time. Impaired driving is one of the leading causes of death, injury and property damage on Ontario roadways and it's entirely preventable. If you plan to drink or take drugs, use a designated driver, a taxi or a rideshare service to get home safely."
