Former nurse Elizabeth Wettlaufer's sentencing hearing begins today with victim impact statements from the families.
WOODSTOCK - It promises to be an emotional day inside the Woodstock Courthouse for the sentencing hearing for Elizabeth Wettlaufer.
Earlier this month Wettlaufer admitted to eight counts of first degree murder, four counts of attempted murder, and two counts of aggravated assault. Seven of the killings, the aggravated assaults, and two of the attempted murders happened at the Carressant Care in Woodstock. The other attempted murders happened at Telfer Place in Paris and a private residence in Oxford County.
Today the court will be listening to the victim impact statements. Because there are so many victims in this case, it is expected to be a long day in court. Wettlaufer's sentencing hearing is not expected to wrap up until tomorrow.
Heart FM will have a reporter in the court house and will be providing updates all day.
