A nice treat for the United Way of Oxford as the Woodstock General Hospital raised their highest amount yet. They've given $17,545 to the organization this year, that's $2,000 up from last year. The hospital's Campaign Chairperson Bonnie Lowes says every year they think of creative ways to get staff involved. "This year we had a dunk tank where we asked managers and supervisors to be part of the dunking, then we had a coffee morning. We come up with something new every year to entice people to join in and be involved because I think people need to know about the United Way," said Lowes. United Way Oxford's Executive Director Kelly Gilson says the hospital does a great job making the campaign enjoyable. "The team here that run the campaign are a great example of people that actually like to put a little fun in it as well. They have a few opportunities throughout their campaign to just get people together and really kind of celebrate some success and have a few laughs while raising money," said Gilson. Gilson says the hospital is an important contributor. "They see so many patients through the hospital that are maybe relying on programs and services that United Way helps to fund. So it's a wonderful partnership and we're grateful for their enthusiasm," said Gilson. CEO Natasa Veljovic is proud of the hospital's achievement. "The committee has done some wonderful things as they inspire us to raise more and more money. We're very pleased to support this charity, one that reaches many agencies in Oxford County," said Veljovic. The hospital has raised over $60,000 in the five years they've participated. The team is already thinking of new ideas for next year's campaign. In top photo: the hospital's dunk tank fundraiser In bottom photo: cheque presentation to the United Way
