Remarkable nobody was injured after two wheel off collisions on the 401 yesterday in Oxford and Middlesex. In both cases the transport trucks that lost the wheels were not located.
OXFORD COUNTY - Thankfully nobody was injured after two very dangerous collisions involving wheels coming off a transport truck on the 401 in Oxford and Middlesex.
The first incident happened yesterday afternoon on the 401 in Blandford-Blenheim Township. Police found two tires from a transport truck in the ditch around 4:30 pm. The actual truck itself was not located.
The second incident happened last night around 7:00 when a wheel came off a transport truck on the 401 near Winchester Bourne. The wheel actually hit another vehicle in the west bound lane, breaking the windshield. Remarkably nobody was injured in the collision. Again the vehicle that lost the tire was not located, as the transport just kept rolling along.
The OPP wants to remind drivers, especially those operating commercial motor vehicles (CMV), to ensure daily inspections are completed. The safety of everyone on the road depends on it.
