Premier Doug Ford will not allow rural areas of the Province to open first. He was asked today about possibly splitting Toronto from the rest of the Province when it comes to reopening things.
OXFORD COUNTY - Premier Doug Ford was asked today if he would consider splitting Toronto from the rest of the Province when it comes to reopening things.
The thought process behind that is, several rural areas have not been hit nearly as hard as the urban centre's in the Province. The Premier was pretty adamant, that is not something they are going to do.
"The problem is, there is no border around Toronto, around the GTA, sure enough, if you open up in a rural area, a lot of people from Toronto are just going to go to that rural area. We have to do it as a Province and we have to do it all together."
Ford says we are starting to see some positive results.
"There is two worlds right now, there is the long term care world and then there is the public domain. In the public domain we are seeing very positive results and that's why the Minister of Labour have laid out the guidelines, I want companies to start getting ready. I'm giving you hope, we are getting close, get ready and I am going to say it again, based again, I am always going to say this, based on health and science. We need to see the numbers continue to go down, not just for a few days but for a couple of weeks but the reason we are throwing out these guidelines, there is a reason, get ready, we are going to get things moving."
