You can expect wiener dog races, costume contests, a car show, over 100 vendors, and more!
BURFORD - Wienerfest is back for another year at the Burford Fairgrounds.
It's the largest Dachshund Festival in North America and it's scheduled for Saturday June 27th and Sunday June 28th this year.
A lot of the popular events will be returning this year including the wiener races, the costume contest and bobbing for wieners. Carrie Pattinson is the Treasurer of the Board of Directors and she says all dogs are welcome at Wienerfest.
"They can sign up for races, check out the lure course which is an agility course, there will be First Aid training, and there will be some information about ticks and how to protect your dogs. Lots of great things will be going on for both days."
There's going to be over 100 vendors this year, with a lot of them set up inside so you can escape the heat for a bit. There is also going to be a car show this year on both days.
Admission is by donation and all of the proceeds will go to local animal charities.
Pattinson says volunteers are also needed to help out with the set up on Friday in addition to the operations on Saturday and Sunday. Those who are interested can e-mail info@wienerfest.ca.
Carrie Pattinson called the Heart FM studio to chat with Dan and Marcie on Tuesday, June 9th. You can listen to the full interview below:
