Oxford MPP Ernie Hardeman's Willing Host Bill will be up for debate in the legislature next week.
OXFORD COUNTY - MPP Ernie Hardeman's Willing Host Bill is coming back to the legislature.
His private members bill will be up for debate next Thursday afternoon.
Hardeman jumped at the opportunity.
"A good friend and colleague in the legislature had a debate day for next week and he's also our critic for the environment so he decided he would be willing to give me his slot. We got it all changed over this morning so I will have the opportunity to debate it for second reading next Thursday afternoon."
If passed it would give municipalities the power to say no to landfills in their community.
The house is getting ready to recess before the provincial election. This means the bill would have to start over from square one if it is not passed before then.
Hardeman hopes to gain their support before the break.
"When you do it, it's a reintroduction and if you've had government house support there is a good chance it will get that again."
Oxford County residents rallied in Queens Park on Tuesday, to show their support for the bill.
