Habitat for Humanity is back on track to finish their Woodstock build on Main Street by the Fall
WOODSTOCK - Habitat for Humanity is back on track to finish their Woodstock build on Main Street by the Fall.
They recieved a generous donation this week from the Winsafe Corporation for $1,000. Regional Development Coordinator with Habitat for Humanity Heartland Alyson Kampman says the non profit relies on charitable donations like the one from Winsafe. " We rely on donations ot ensure the builds get done, homes are built by volunteers, we operate here at Habitat on a very lean staff, we have 8 staff for the entire region covering Huron, Perth, Middlesex, Elgin and Oxford, every penny that is raised goes directly towards helping the build and getting the families into their new home, so every penny helps."
Kampman says the walls are starting to go up on the Woodstock and things are starting to move forward after dealing with some unforseeable problems. They are still looking for volunteers to help with the build and have a real need for framers right now. They will take builders with experience and ones who don't have experience. Habitat will provide the training so you can help put a less fortunate family in a new home. You can volunteer by calling the office at 519-455-6623 ext 229.
