Two different plans for development of the Woodstock location of Woodingford Lodge got approved by council.
OXFORD COUNTY - Seniors of Oxford County will soon be getting more care.
Two different development plans for Woodingford Lodge Woodstock location have been approved by County Council.
Paul Beaton, Director of Human Services on selecting the two proposals.
"So it was surplus county land. It was bid available. We made it surplus, we put it out to the public, we got various proposals back and the two that were selected seemed to be the best fit for going forward."
The first plan includes the development of 23 affordable housing units for Woodingford Lodge.
In the 2nd plan, a 178 unit retirement residence for assisted living will be created.
John Lajoy of Splitroc Inc. talks about his development proposal for the 23 affordable housing units.
"And we're proposing to do four buildings of six units each. All single story, one bedroom garden style townhouses. Each unit will have it's own private outdoor space, patio and garden area."
Dr. Peter Nord, CEO of Stillbrook Accessible Retirement Residences says his residence will work well with Woodingford Lodge.
"We're sort of between that. So we're sort of long-term care lite. So for folks who can't live independently anymore, this is really an assisted living environment that we're creating"
Woodingford Lodge is a trio of non-for profit long-term care homes located in Woodstock, Ingersoll and Tillsonburg.
