The invitation was initiated after she and Mayor Acchione visited the UK earlier this year.
WOODSTOCK - The Woodstock Art Gallery was honoured with an invitation to the Standing Senate Committee.
Curator Mary Reid was asked to approach the committee to speak on the role that Canadian culture could play in international relations. The invitation was initiated after she and Mayor Acchione visited the UK earlier this year to present an exhibition from the WAG at the High Commission of Canada.
Reid said that she only had 4 minutes to speak, so she made sure her directive was clear.
"I was directed to speak on the work of cultural diplomacy, and how that makes an impact on the community. So of course, I talked about taking that exhibition from the WAG to the Canadian Embassy in London."
The two also traveled to Woodstock, Oxfordshire, where Reid discussed future potential partnerships with the county’s Manager of Museum Services.
