The Woodstock Art Gallery will reopen its doors to the public on Saturday February 19th, just in time for the Family Day long weekend.

WOODSTOCK - The Woodstock Art Gallery is excited to reopen to the public on Family Day weekend.

Curator Mary Reid says most of the renovations are done and they're excited to welcome back the public.

"We are very excited to be able to open our doors. The major roof repairs are almost complete, there is still a few small things that need to be done and nothing that will impact visitors coming in. During this downtime, we have taken this time to turn over all of our exhibition galleries, so we have a brand new suite of exhibitions that are opening for people to come and enjoy for the Family Day long weekend."

Doors will open on Saturday, February 19th with three new exhibitions:

- A Moment of Mindfulness — featuring selections from the permanent collection exploring the concept of mindfulness.

-  Many Lives Mark This Place: John Hartman Paints Canadian Writers in the Landscapes That Inspire Them — a project that captures the intimate relationship Canadian authors have with their personal places of inspiration.

-  Common Collective: Controlled Burn — a site-specific video and sound installation that focuses on a barn burning and the challenges of the local rural agricultural community.

Reid says these new exhibitions showcase local, regional and national artists.

"We would like to acknowledge the support of the Canada Council for the Arts, the Ontario Arts Council, Panasonic and the Oxford Community Foundation B&R George Fund."

The Woodstock Art Gallery is also teaming up with Toyota Motor Manufacturing Company for the free art grab bag program. Staff are working hard to put together over 400 free art grab bags that will be given out to the public for free on a first come first serve basis, Monday, February 21st starting at 10:00 a.m.
