The funds will be available to local charities and non-profits but they must provide education for small businesses, offer mental health supports, try to create or enhance a public space, or support an initiative that looks to build a stronger Woodstock community.
WOODSTOCK - The Woodstock Chamber of Commerce has joined forces with the Oxford Community Foundation.
Ifhan Hudda, the President of the Board of Directors for the Chamber, says they have created a new grant in order to support small businesses and the community at large.
“Our Chamber was created in 1877 to help local businesses and the community. The fund we have established will give back year after year by providing grants that strengthen both businesses and our community."
The funds will be available to local charities and non-profit organizations, but they must support one of the following pillars:
- Provide education for small businesses so they can grow and develop new skills;
- Offer mental health supports or workshops;
- Try to create or enhance a public space;
- Support an initiative that looks to build a stronger Woodstock community.
The grant fund was established with a donation of $101,500 from the Chamber.
The first grant will be worth $1,500 and it will be distributed sometime in the fall. The remaining $100,000 will be invested alongside other Oxford Community Foundation Funds, and the income from that will provide future grants.
