Woodstock City Council has supported a letter from the City of Brantford asking the Province to reconsider prohibitions around golf and outdoor recreational activities.
WOODSTOCK - Woodstock City Council is supporting a recent motion from the City of Brantford asking the Province to withdraw its prohibition on golfing and other outdoor recreational activities.
Mayor Trevor Birtch says they have forwarded the letter to Oxford County MPP Ernie Hardeman and Premier Doug Ford.
"There has been a lot of discussion and controversy in the news, regarding having some of those restrictions in place and having the ban on golf and of course the Province has been having discussions with various groups. The correspondence that was received from the City of Brantford, Woodstock City council supported that."
Birtch says they support people getting outside, as long as it can be safely.
"We support having proper social distancing in place, but feel that many of these outdoor recreational activities should be reinstated."
The correspondence was brought forward by councillor Mark Schadenberg and supported by council.
This was one of four letters the City supported and we will have more on the others next week.
