WOODSTOCK - When is an event not an event on Dundas Street?
Well, for the next little while it will be anytime the street is closed.
City council have asked staff to investigate closing the street as a way to support merchants and bring people downtown.
But Mayor Trevor Birtch says shopping will be what brings people downtown.
"What we're looking at for any possible street closures is making sure that it does not become an event, but it's more supporting our local businesses, going shopping, dining. So it would not have any of the outside entertainment or music, or dancing or buskers, or food trucks, as that is not allowed under the current orders."
Mayor Birtch says Dundas would be closed between Wellington and Light Street.
Staff will be talking possible dates with downtown merchants.
