Woodstock City council will not be meeting in person anytime soon as they have voted to keep meeting virtually for the time being.
WOODSTOCK - Woodstock City Council has voted to keep meeting virtually.
Mayor Trevor Birtch explains why they are going to keep the virtual format with the Zoom meetings.
"Information coming out from neighbouring jurisdictions and the amount of COVID-19 cases right now, we wanted to make sure we maintain safe physical distancing and for many of the issues that come on councils agenda, there are people from the public who want to be in attendance at those meetings."
Birtch says the virtual format has worked well.
"So we decided to continue with the electronic format, and that allows individuals to call in on the telephone, or to come online in the Zoom meeting and be an active participant when called on to be in a delegation. As we continue to track the information and have new direction from our senior Government partners, we will keep the public up to date on future meeting formats."
The virtual meetings remain open to the public and you can still make a delegation online. You can find more information about how to watch the meetings online here.
