A big decision was made at the latest Woodstock City Council meeting. The 2024 Capital Budget was adopted.
WOODSTOCK - It was a big council meeting in Woodstock.
Last night, the 2024 capital budget was adopted, and is coming in at just over 29-million dollars.
A big item that was taken off next year's budget was the Downtown Revitalization.
Council thought it was best to decide how to move forward after talks of the operating budget set to take place in February or March.
City staff was also asked to hold public meetings to get feedback on the project.
Mayor, Jerry Acchione says what was important for Council.
"We're taking the tax levy seriously. We're really looking at what is needed and what is not, kind of taking off any of the extras that we can, and putting forward what people have made clear that they want to see, as well as what we need as a community."
Approximately 72 per cent of the proposed budget is allocated for maintenance or replacement of existing capital assets and 28 per cent will go towards new or growth-related capital projects.
