Woodstock Fair Celebrates 186 Years

The 186th Woodstock Fair will get underway this afternoon and it will continue all weekend long.

WOODSTOCK - The 186th Woodstock Fair is about to get underway.

The gates will open for the first time at 4:00 p.m. today and the fair will continue all weekend long.

The Campbell Amusements Midway will also open at 4:00 p.m. today and the ride tickets are one for $1.50, 20 for $25, or 50 for $50. Robin Newton-Smith, the Vice President of the Woodstock Agricultural Society, tells us about one of the rides.

"The one they have this year they brought in special. It's called The Fury and it's new to Ontario. Someone called it a Scrambler on steroids! If you thought the Scrambler was bad, this one jumps and dances and spins at the same time!"

The fair will also include a youth scavenger hunt today, a dog agility show on Saturday, and a chainsaw carving show on Sunday. They also have a horse show and a stock tractor pull lined up for Saturday, as well as a demolition derby scheduled for Sunday.

It's free to get into the fair, but you'll have to pay $5 if you want to watch the stock tractor pull or the demolition derby.

Newton-Smith is encouraging everyone to visit the fair this weekend.

"We're coming through the growing pains of after COVID, so there are some things that we're just starting to do for the first time in five years. We're working our way back into full production, but we had a successful fair last year and we'd like to think this one is going to be bigger and better!"
