Woodstock Hospital to Implement a Vaccine Policy

Starting next week all Woodstock Hospital staff and physicians will need to be fully vaccinated or undergo mandatory testing before each shift.

WOODSTOCK - Woodstock Hospital is implementing a vaccination policy for employees.

The Delta variant is ripping through the Province and the hospital is a high risk setting. The new policy will take effect on September 7. It will will require all staff and physicians to be fully
immunized for COVID-19 or undertake mandatory testing prior to each shift to verify negative test results.

Woodstock Hospital President and CEO Perry Lang explains why they made this difficult decision.

"Our priority since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic has been to protect patients, visitors, staff and the broader community. Provincial modelling shows that we are actively in the fourth wave of the pandemic. Vaccinations are effective and remain the best way to ensure everyone’s safety."

Woodstock Hospital will also require all volunteers, students, new hires and contract workers to be fully vaccinated for COVID-19.

VP of Patient Care and Chief Nursing Officer Cindy Smart says the Hospital has always had strict COVID-19 measures.

"Evidence around the increasingly prevalent delta variant has revealed that there is a significantly higher rate of transmission, as well as a higher likelihood of more severe illness as result of infection. We encourage everyone to remain vigilant in following public health protocols including getting vaccinated, to protect our vulnerable demographics and young children."

Most employees at the hospital are fully vaccinated already. In fact 92 per cent of staff and physicians have received a COVID-19 vaccine.
