The damage is estimated at $100,000.
WOODSTOCK - The Woodstock Fire Department is stressing the importance of smoke detectors after a recent fire on Tennyson Street.
Firefighters found heavy smoke billowing out the home when they arrived on scene at around 1:15 a.m. on Monday.
Officials discovered that the home had an additional residential unit in the lower level. That unit did not have working smoke alarms, which could have been fatal for the people living there. The upper level of the home did have working smoke alarms and those residents were able to wake the lower level residents so everyone got out safely.
The damage is estimated at $100,000 and the cause is still under investigation at this time.
