Can you create a logo? That's the challenge of a contest through Woodstock Hydro and the Woodstock Art Gallery. It's for anyone under the age of 18, who has an artistic streak and wouldn't mind winning a cash prize and having your designed logo splashed all over the city. Woodstock Hydro's Energy Services Advisor David Peters says it's for their "Sunny Side Up Project". "We're hoping to create some energy in the city for our renewable energy systems that have been installed, create awareness for conservation and also for rewnable energy systems." Right now, Woodstock Hydro has three solar power systems set up throughout the city with more to come. One of them is on the roof of Hydro's building, which is overlooked by the second floor classroom of the Art Gallery. So a natural partnership has been formed between the civicly-owned entities. Education Officer with the Gallery, Stephanie Porter has been visiting art classes to issue the logo design challenge. "Everybody in the class wants to enter it. Most of them wait until the last minute to apply, so the deadline for this contest is June 14th." Grade 7 student at Northdale Public School, Bailey has visions of winning. "I would be able to have my art displayed all over town in the installations that Woodstock Hydro is displaying, and on a billboard in front of the Woodstock Art Gallery." There are prizes for different age categories. Top prize is $500 and the winning logo will be used in the marketing of "Sunny Side Up." Click here for more details.
