Jeffrey Went of Woodstock won the LOTTO 6/49 second prize worth $126,673 in the draw on April 22nd. He plans on using his winnings to pay his bills.
WOODSTOCK - Woodstock's Jeffrey Went won over $126,000 from the OLG Lottery.
He won the LOTTO 6/49 second prize worth $126,673 in the draw on April 22nd. He matched five numbers plus the bonus number to win the prize.
The 47-year old Went is married and a father of three and he is discovered his win while gassing up.
He says he was dumbfounded.
"You check your tickets and you think, $5.00 or $10.00 or whatever is what you'd usually win, never $126,000 right? So I had to give my head a shake there for a sec."
The plumber from Woodstock called his wife to tell her the news and she didn’t believe him. He texted her a picture of the ticket to prove it to her.
He says he plans to use his winnings to pay his bills.
"i'm going to definitely pay off the bills. After last year's incident with my dirt biking accident there's been some bills that have added up, shall we say, being self-employed, not being able to work for almost a year. It's definitely going to help get us back on our feet and definitely change our lives for the better, for sure."
The winning ticket was purchased at the Star Gas Bar & Car Wash on Dundas Street in Woodstock.
LOTTO 6/49 players in Ontario have won over $13 billion in prizes since 1982, including 1,392 jackpot wins and 336 Guaranteed $1 Million Prize draws.
LOTTO 6/49 is $3.00 per play and draws take place on Wednesdays and Saturdays.
