The Woodstock Nationals Men's Slo-pitch team held the bottle drive for one of their players who is currently undergoing a battle with cancer.
WOODSTOCK - The Woodstock Nationals Men's Slo-pitch bottle drive was a huge success raising just over $3,100 this past weekend.
The bottle drive was done for one of the players on the team Ryan Colborne. Colborne was recently diagnosed with colon cancer and all of the proceeds will go to him and his family while he is off work. One of the organizers Ian Carson says the team is really like a big family.
"When you are on a baseball team, it's almost like you have a second family, so he is basically part of this baseball family and has been for years and this gentleman has been diagnosed with colon cancer, so as a team we decided to do some fundraising while he is off work and we though what better way to fund raise than with an old fashioned bottle drive."
Carson wanted to give a huge thank you to everyone in the community who donated by dropping off bottles. They were collected all month long at two locations in Woodstock.
