When Deputy Chief Daryl Longworth leaves for London there will be big shoes to fill, but WPS think they've found the right man for the job.
WOODSTOCK - The Woodstock Police Service has found a new Deputy Chief.
Inspector Darren Sweazey will assume the role on October 2nd and will take over for Daryl Longworth who is moving on to the London Police Service. Sweazy is a 25 year veteran of the Woodstock Police Service and has held numerous positions throughout the organization. He is a strong proponent of community policing and will continue to play an integral role in the WPS executive team.
Woodstock Police Service Board Chair Mary Anne Silverthorn said, "The entire board are extremely pleased to have Sweazey assume the executive role and have every confidence in his abilities to lead and guide the service over the next few years. Darren is a highly respected officer who has shown his commitment to the service and community for a very long time."
Chief Bill Renton said, "He has full confidence that Sweazey will provide strong and effective leadership for the men and women of the Woodstock Police Service and that he will continue to work to ensure community safety is a top priority. Renton said he looks forward to working with Darren who is an extremely committed, dedicated and an experienced officer who has the respect of all members of the service."
