Woodstock Police will be out in full force this long weekend. They will be monitoring traffic as more and more people are expected to hit the road to enjoy the long weekend. Constable Nikki VanLeeuwen tells Heart FM they will really be focusing on distracted driving. Distracted driving has become one of the number killers on our roadways and still police often see people driving while texting or talking on their phone. VanLeeuwen adds you can also expect to see lot's of ride programs set up throughout the friendly city as police will try to crack down on drinking and driving and driving under the influence of drugs. Also officers will be targeting speeders, aggressive drivers and those not wearing a seat belt. Vanleeuwen says wearing a seat belt reduces the chance of serious injury by 52% and the fine for not doing so is $255 plus 2 demerit points.
