The Scarborough Cup is always presented to the municipality with the largest lifesaving program for a population ranging from 10,000 to 50,000.
WOODSTOCK - The City of Woodstock has received a special honour from the Ontario Branch of the Lifesaving Society.
It presented the city with the Scarborough Cup on Friday, April 12th. This award is always given to the municipality with the largest lifesaving program for a population ranging from 10,000 to 50,000.
Brian Connors, Woodstock's Director of Parks and Rec, says this is an incredible honour.
"Learning to swim is an essential life skill. Our team helps people of all ages build confidence in and around water through our high-quality swimming lessons. We are extremely proud to have received this award for the first time."
The city also offers first aid training and certification courses for instructors and lifeguards.
"Lifeguarding is a great way for young people to develop leadership skills and gain valuable work experience, We're always looking to add new lifeguards and swim instructors to our team."
